Default Steering column play

Hi guys,

I've posted this video before, weeks later I've taken ( I took?) the column apart.
The 2 tilt bolts appear to be tight.
The 3 screws that are under the indicator mechanism are also tight.
What else can be worn? I've found someone very close who can supply me with the indicator lever "knuckle" so I could possibly rebuild my column if I find the source of this play.
Play is when rocking the steering wheel between 2 and 7 o clock.

As always, much appreciated!

4 bolts that hold the main steel tube to the alloy block . Its the block that the two steel PINS go into that allows the top section to pivot. ?

maybe just loose as well.

If you have the tilt column it’s likely the lock shoes And/or the pin in the bearing housing.

Thé one thing I haven’t checked yet is indeed the lock shoes. I’ll have a look at these tomorrow. I’ll change all bearings while at it.
What I did found that was broken was the plastic C clip protector/ spacer. Fully crumbled to bits.

On my car it was the housing itself. The holes where the pin goes was worn/enlarged so it was a lot of play in the pin.

Stripped it down to the bare shafts, couldn’t find any play or loose screws once the indicator mechanism part was removed ( the shaft itself was loose, but that’s normal afaik). I’ll just replace the pins and every part I can find and reassemble. Hope the play is gone then.

There is a BIG spring that counteracts the weight of the top end of the column and the wheel ,while its mounted in the car .Its there so when you go to tilt the column the top doesn't drop in your lap when you release the shoes . with out any weight on it , its going to tighten up any slack parts in there.
