One employer I worked for had one on the shelf in the bearing section of the parts room.
It was the standard 3/8 - 5 3/4 cone heater, your looks much larger.
Looked about the same vintage era as yours, is the about 750w?
It was dusty and looked like it had never been used.
I knew exactly what it was used for, younger Engineers had no clue.
Looked into purchasing one for personal use, had no idea how expensive they were.

Back in the old days before CFLs and LEDs, backyard mechanics would place the bearing on a 100 watt light bulb for a bit. I'm sure slower to expand the metal than a purpose-made heater, but worked just the same.

Do you ever find the need to place a weight on the bearing or clamp it after you drop it in place...to prevent it from "moving away" from the surface it sits against?
