1980 Tach not working??
Hello Everyone,
On my 1980 project I have an issue with the stock tach not working. It is getting a signal all the way to the dash as I have tried an aftermarket tach and it works. I have also changed the circuit board on the back of the tach and it still doesn't work?? There is little left to change other than the gauge its self but i cant see it being that as I have tried 2 and neither works as well.
So here is where my question come, I bought the car with a non stock engine in it. It appears to be from what I've been able to find that its out of a mid 70's car (2 bolt main not that it matters). I have seen when order tachs they ask the motor for the 1980, could the tach not working have anything to do with the signal coming from the distributer? Any ideas I'm now stumped!

HEI distributor to 1980 tach: You need a 'tach filter' inline. It sounds like this connection is completely disconnected. if you can take a few pictures of passenger side of rear area of intake, that will help to determine if the tach filter is present and connected.
