I'm getting ready to go threw an early one part 4L60e Trans that I'm building for use in a car that will see Track use only be it Autocross and Road Race and even an occasional Drag Strip. I'm using Sonnax parts including the Close Ratio gears. At this point I'm probably going to be controlling it with a Holley Dominator ECM as I will be using a stand alone FI system. May or may not use a Engine Braking Valve Body and a Paddle Shifted Steering Wheel.
I used a Transgo in my 4L80e for my 02 Silverado and followed the instructions for a HD 2500 and it firmed up the shifts just like I like it. I see Transgo is offering a couple different packages for the 4L60e. I know that Transgo help line pretty much tells You that they have to be installed by an approved Trans Tech and not much help. I'm setting myself up to install a bunch of aftermarket miss matched parts and I would like to avoid that. I would just as soon find a proven Trans Build Sheet but I'm not finding one. So in my mind I want the Transgo with some reliability upgrades, but leave the Shift Firmness up to the ECM. I'm stepping out of my knowledge base.
Gale I think I would use the Pro Kit or the SK3 if you need full manual control. Are you using the Sonnex smart shell too ? If you do call the Trans Go Tech line ask for Glen Amos , he is the best there is anywhere
So I tried to call and didn't get threw so I sent an e-mail to the sales dept. and really didn't expect a reply which I didn't get. However going threw my order from Sonnex I see that I have there Performance Pack and when I ordered it I didn't understand that it is basically there shift kit. So I really don't have a need to get anything from Transgo. I was surprised that Sonnex did not offer a Rebuild Kit with all the Clutchs and Seals and Gaskets.. Obviously that market is already covered so they don't need to. In the past when I have done a Trans I get the Rebuild Kit and the Shift Kit from two suppliers and thats what lead me to think I still needed a Shift Kit. Thanx for the reply Eric
