Default Pilot bearing & Flywheel setup

This is for a GM LS3 engine.
1. Pilot bearing for Manual transmission is the hole for location a or b. I believe the correct location is "A"
2, Should there be a dowel pin in location C

Transmission is a T56 Magnum

Depends on what input shaft you are using. A: open needle bearing used with a long snout input shaft like a C5. B: sealed roller bearing used with a short snout input shaft like a C6. You could use B with either input shaft, but not A with a short (C6) input shaft, but I prefer to use the correct bearing based on the shaft. C: I've never seen any dowels there in any LS1,2,3,6,7 I've worked on. This is a C6 input shaft. The C5 shaft has a longer nose in front of the splines. I can take a picture of a C5 shaft tomorrow if you want to see the difference.

You also want to measure the air gap between the pressure plate fingers and the face of the release bearing. The numbers shown are for refere

nce only.

My Shaft. So I will use A location.

Looks like a C5 style shaft. I'll measure one tomorrow when I get to work. The one I pictured is approx 3/4" long. You could use either the A or B location.
