Well I wouldn't call it difficult, just involved. The distributor, intake manifold, water pump, radiator, valve covers, harmonic balancer, fuel pump, timing chain cover need to be removed. Then the rockers get loosened to remove pushrods and lifters, timing chain and gears next, then carefully work cam out the front. Lube the new cam generously and reassemble, simple just time consuming  I'm sure I forgot something that is in the way, I always do. With a helper a weekend project providing you don't get a case of "while I'm at it". :D

Re: changing a cam (Scott78)
well I already have most of that stuff off when I took off the heads. I am replacing the heads and I figured getting the appropriate cam for the heads.
If you have the heads off your 90% there. Just the stuff hanging off the front of the motor. What heads/cam you gonna go with? Damn I wish my car was back from the body shop so I could get started on the winter projects.
Pull the radiator. If you got A/C, you either have to remove the condenser or I've heard some were able to swing the condenser out of the way. My old condenser came out & never got put back in. ;)

I am torn between Edelbrock RPMs, and AFR 190s. Then I need to figure out which cam would work best with those heads and my existing single plan intake. DD2000 has given me some info but I am gonna start trying cams that I know the name of and know how to order
This is a link I saved a long time ago. It may have been a forum member. Sorry that I can't give credit where credit is due. http://www.bokonon.net/corvette/cam1.html
Thats a good Thread Ferl73. Even a Bubba like me could pull that off. Gotta get heat in the garage first cause it would take me a month to do it and I know better than to do a project like that when the weather is warm.
Pulling the engine isn't really that hard. All you need is a cherry picker and a stand. Gives you all kinds of access to paint and clean things. From what i've heard the rad has to come out for an in car swap.
