Default Dash Mounted Vent Deflector

I have removed both the Drivers Speedo/Tach, and Map Pocket Dash Panels. While waiting for the Speedo/Tach to be repaired, I would like to refresh the vent housing that allows the HVAC Air to be regulated into the cockpit. Previously I purchased new Chrome Deflector ***** and new “Felt Inserts.” On each plastic/composite vent housing there are remnants of plastic tape, that I am guessing were a “SEAL” between the Flexible Duct and the vent housing. I have looked on eBay, at OEM Vent Housings, and like mine, all that’s left is the “tape”. Has anyone used foam weather stripping to act as a seal? My AC is marginal on a COLD day, and I would like to direct as much COOL Air into the cockpit. Another idea was that Chevy used specially cut pieces of “felt” as a seal. I have included pictures of my cleaned up vent housing.
THanks for all the help.

You don't want foam seals on those vent housings. Why not? Because foam will disintegrate in just a few years. Buy a piece of black felt...about 3/32" think (about 2 mm).... and cut some 1/4" wide strips. Clean the inside of the vent housing [where the seals will attach] with lacquer thinner or other volatile cleaner. Use some thin double-sided tape or contact cement to attach the seals so that there is a full round in each of two places per housing. To re-insert the *****, turn the ball so that the front/back openings are facing right and left (90 deg turn from normal position). Now just push the ball into place and turn back 90 deg to normal position.

The felt will last for many years without losing resistance--so the ***** won't slip out of position on their own.
