Hello, I have a couple of things routed to the IGN fuse prong (Sniper EFI, Fan, EFI distributer) and have been experiencing some intermittent failures from the IGN fuse. The failure involves the car losing all engine power until I puller over and pull out the connector and reattached the wire connecting to the IGN fuse male connector. The wire goes from the IGN connecter/fuse box tru the fire call and connected to components under the hood that need "hot when ignition switch is on" and "hot when ignition switch is cranking" power.
My question: Is there another way of providing "hot when ignition switch is on" and "hot when ignition switch is cranking" power and not use the IGN fuse option. (see below image for the IGN.
(please disregard the orange arrow on the image) I attached the image to show the IGN fuse which is a down and a little right of the arrow
There is no fuse at that location just a source of power.
Do the various components that you somehow have connected to that circuit have a separate fuse inline for each component?
HI ive seen you have a couple of discussion on this topic with others. I'm using it as a source of power because my EFI needs hot when Key on and cranking. But I think the contact to post has a weak connection. Which Is why I'm looking for an alternative keyed power source,
Tap the wire there- this is a permanent installation- i would not use a spade connector that can easily be pulled out - with the clutch/brake /your foot or vibrate loose.
1 Pack 40/30 AMP 12 V DC Waterproof Relay and Harness - Heavy Duty 12 AWG Tinned Copper Wires, 5-PIN SPDT Bosch Style Automotive Relay
PIN Connections (how i did it)
30: connect A Fused wire from Battery
86: connect Wire from Fuse box (IGN) *
87: connect Wire to source (I connected mine to a Blue Sea fuse Block)
85: ground (I wired mine back to battery)
* Remember that the C3 (1973) IGN prong is "power when on" and "power when cranking"
I also found the following diagram very useful...
Good Luck!
Fixed: Instead of wiring the IGN from fuse box to EFI I purchased a relay and wired the it to the IGN prong (see above fused box image).
The replay I used. (The relay has the pins clearly marked) https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

EXCELLENT move-
Relays are the best way to go-
I redid my stock fusebox with relays and a combo holder with fuses. The ignition switch just has to supply the small amount of power to control the relay- and the higher current switching is done by the relay.
I am running my loads that require "Hot During Crank + Run" from the same connector. \
I initially only had one load, then I added a second, and I was about to add a third so I decided to hook up a relay to it (so it just picks up the relay now) and the I powered the load side of the relay from the Horn Relay terminal.
(nevermind--- I see that your terminal may be loose)
