Man, guys this sucks. I posted last week that I would be doing this swap and hopefully cranking up by Wed. The way things are going, that will be next Wed. Monday-rained all day and wind was a bitch, plus it was cold. Now, I am in a garage but the problem is I have that pos mustang in there and need to put it in the driveway to make room for engine swap. Tuesday, weather was nice. Got engine ready to pull. It is just sitting there by afternoon waiting to be pulled. Had to stop working on it to take care of kids. Wed-had to take my son to doctor at nine. Figured would be working on car by noon. Got a wicked cold tuesday night that had me laid up on the couch all day after kids doctors appointment. Got up today and felt a little better. Now its freakin raining again and does not look like it will stop soon. Can't put mustang in driveway cause the windshield leaks bad. Plus I live across the street from a salt water lake and the wind is blowing hard out of that direction. This sucks. I did get the crate engine on stand and installed a crome timing chain cover and located a new milodin windage tray. If the rain gives me a little break, I can put the stang outside and yank the engine pretty quick, cause like I said everything is ready. Oh well, at least I am on vacation till the 27th, so I have time. That should be enough crybabying for now.
Unfortunatly that is what happens when you have a life and kids. Something always comes up and puts the Corvette on hold. It always takes twice the time and Twice the money to complete a project
Man, I feel for ya. I can already predict my engine swap will go just as bad. I'll probably take a few days off so I can work straight through and get everything done and get sick on my days off or something. My problem is usually finding friends to help. Most of my friends live to far and aren't into cars as much as I am. My dad is a huge help but he can only make it up on weekends and his time is limited. I tell you what though, there's not much better than working on hot rods with your dad.
j/k I have to do the same thing with my 77, except my wife is 7.5 months pregnant and I spend all my time in lamaze, baby CPR and such stuff.
So I feel your pain. Say, where did you get your crate engine from? I'm looking to buy a 350/350 hp block, but I really don't know of a good place to buy one.
:iagree: Tell ya what--I've always wanted to take a look see at Texas City. I'll just come up there and get that nasty ol' mustang and hold on to it for ya for a while. :D
I can tell you from the experience I picked up working in racing and as the dad to 3 boys that you need to follow this formula:
Carefully plan each step, add up how long it will take, budget the time and money, multiply by at least 4, and then throw out the plan shortly after you start and improvise from there. I find that this works best.

Got it from Precision Engine Rebuilders out of Houston. If you want some details, email me and I'll send you what I got. They do ship nationwide.
Thanks for the offers on the mustang guys. I really like the car as it was the first restoration I attempted. I'm just frustrated right now. I figured being on vacation and the kids in school, I would knock this swap out quick. I did plan everything and I am now improvising, so I guess its going the way its supposed to.
