Default A Basic Header Question

I am completely in the dark when it comes to headers, but have decided to order Hooker Headers from Jet Hot Direct with the Sterling finish.

What else is needed ? I assume gaskets, bolts, and maybe brackets.

The car is a 72 w/ AC. Once I get everything together I will be taking it to a local muffler shop for installation. Can someone give me a little list of everything that is needed, so I won't be completely dumb when talking to Jet Hot ?

Gaskets should be delivered with the headers. Good headerbolts is a must....I run with ARP..

The supplied gaskets are junk. Throw them in the garbage and buy a quality set. Percy's, Fel-Pro etc.
A good set of locking header bolts (Stage 8) would also be a good idea.

:iagree: Good gaskets are a must, also bolts or a stud kit and collectors. If you have the long compressor, you will just mod. your bracket.

I found the Stage 8 header bolts in Jegs, but having a little trouble finding the right FEL-PRO gaskets.

Can someone post the correct Jegs or Summit PN for the gaskets?

Yes! Todd is who I am talking too. He left on vacation yesterday until the 23rd, so thanks for the tip.

Get good header bolts!! Preferably in stainless. The ones that come with the hooker headers are absolute junk and are not long enough to boot! Get as much thread engagement as you can or you'll be stripping the holes in your heads. I've found stainless allen head set screws work excellent. I drill them and safety wire them for good measure. They clear the tubes well too, with no socket clearance issues.

Good gaskets are a must too. Gasket compression and then relaxation is why the header bolts keep coming loose. I swear by Fel Pro but there's other good ones out there. I wouldn't touch Mr Gasket stuff with YOUR 50 ft pole!

You will probably need a special A/C bracket, ask JetHot or call Jeg's as the too sell the Hooker Headers.
