Default Carb replacement

I have a carburetor question for all you carb gurus. I am replacing my Edelbrock carb with a Holley carb and the orientation fo the Holley carb for the linkage to line up put the carb on backwards. I did some research and it doesnt seem like its all that bad except for the fuel being pushed to the wrong end under acceleration. Im thinking of trying it and seeing how it runs so that I dont have to switch my throttle cables all around. Second, can I move the fuel intake from the front to the rear location as shown in the picture? (Which technically if the carb was oriented correctly, it is already in the rear and would be moved to the front.)

Really? Thats good to know cause I thought it was. How about moving the fuel pick up to the rear. Can I do that?

You can, but there's absolutely no good reason to do so, unless you want to have the possibility of jamming the fuel line into the throttle linkage. No reasonable person would do that.

...and I hope you're not intending to run the car with that throttle linkage you show in the photo...

Are those fuel bowls twins Lars?
Or is there a primary only and secondary only bowls?
If they are twins he could swap ends on the main body. Then move the fuel inlet from one end to the other too?

Love the birdfeeder chain.

You need a Holley carburetor throttle bracket that attaches to the rear stud of the carburetor base not the intake manifold so that the throttle cable can directly attach to the throttle linkage.

I would be more concerned about that throttle linkage and screen door spring setup. You really need to sort that out before you worry about fuel plumbing.

Look at the picture in post #20 in this link, the factory Holley was fed from the front driver's side.

To get the fuel inlet on the carb, closer to the fuel pump, just like GM did it from the factory. And that's how a Holley carb that's destined for a Chevy engine, will be set up, too. My Pontiac T/A's engine, for instance, had it's fuel pump on the drivers side, so it's OE carb, as well as the Holley that I bought, had the fuel inlet on the left side.(similar to the carb pictured in the OP)

Yes, you could do something like that, but it's completely pointless and unneccesary. The OP can't even figure out the front and back of the carb, and would be hard pressed to modify it with any degree of technical competency. Chevy used single-inlet 4160 Holley carbs with inlet on the front driver's side all through the '60s. No problem plumbing that up. Just run the fuel line just like Chevy did for that same carb on the 327 engines. The fuel routing does not need to be altered or re-engineering - complete nonsense and silliness. Hook it up the way the factory did, and then get that deadly throttle linkage fixed..!

Lars
Original Chevy fuel line routing for '66 327/350hp L79. This was changed to a hard-line to the carb on the '67 327:
