I have pulled the motor in my '69 and am wondering what if any new motor mounts I should get. The old mounts were fine, but I am wondering if I should replace them. If I should replace them, should I replace them with standard rubber mounts, urethane mounts or solid mounts? I use the car strictly for pleasure (duh), by that I mean I don't race it and I only put around 2000 miles on it a year. Would the urethane mounts be too stiff?
:iagree: w/what he said. I have the polys on mine and noticed no difference in vibration and yet, as compared to the rubber mounts, they are not affected by gas or oil. Besides, changing them is something you want to do only once and while the engine is out is the best time to do it.
I put in urethane on my new engine and they feel great in the car. I like the thought that they will be there for many years without me having to mess with them.
But from the way you describe your car usage, rubber mounts will probably do you just find.
I run solid mounts in mine, and i had a solid trans. mount awhile ago in my other vette and i cracked the case,a friend of mine thats a trans guy said it was because of the solid tranny mount, whether it was or it wasnt i took it out.

Re: Motor Mounts (vette69)
I used stock (interlocking) type mounts but tried an old trick - drilled a hole through mounts and and fastened a 1/4-20 bolt with self locking nut. I used two bolts but one should be enough. This allows the rubber to squeeze and absorb shocks but should never come apart. Snug tighten only - no torque used. No washers used as clearance can be tight near block - make hole a tight fit for bolt (everyone likes that feeling). Took some pry bar effort to align and install frame bolts, had to loosen block bolts first.
Hope I'm not too late to help,

Summit sells the poly energy suspension motor mounts for our Vettes for about $35 each.
I might be off on my thinking. :conehead But certian people on this forum install a front spreader bar. Then they claim greater cornering speed due to less frame flex.
IMO if you have near ridged motor mounts like my poly ones. Isn't the motor acting like a super ridged cross brace?
I'm running Moroso solid motor mounts and a Moroso solid tranny mount and love them. It does have some vibration but nothing bad. I could get rid of a lot of the shifter vibration by using a rubber tranny mount but the solid works fine. When I rev the motor the engine torques very little....but the car rocks pretty good :)
