Nothing visible is loose.
I guess to really check it I will need to disconnect the transmission and open the bellhousing

If an exhaust shop has been in there and made a Midas system for it there is a pretty good chance its not passing threw the X member correctly and that might be your clunk. If the Expansion Tank has been disconnected you can bet its got a leak and somebody figured "we don't need that stupid thing anyway ". Is the Fan Shroud all there ? Does it have a custom Fan or OEM ? We can assume all the Foam that stops the air from going around and not threw the Radiator is long gone. The Temp Gauge could be as easy as a new Sending Unit or a melted wire.

Will try to lift the car and open the inspection place.

Got a bit demotivated recently since I checked the status of the bird cage and it's quite bad. Rookie mistake, since the frame just had surface rust I assumed the bird cage would be OK :|
Do you have a picture of the birdcage area you are concerned about?

And the issue was.....
wrong firing order.

I managed to remove all the wire heat shields to properly trace the wires.
5 and 7 were swapped. when put back correctly no more clunks.

I’m pretty confident it wasn’t me but who knows. I once heard “never assume who work on the car before you know what they were doing”.

Now let’s tackle all the other 1000 things which need to be fixed.

Thank you folks for all the tips. I love this place.

Glad to hear it was a simple non damaging issue. I hate those damned heat shields bolted to the bottom of the block, especially the one that is bolted on with one of the motor mount bolts. The first time I swapped out plug wires and realized the ludicrous routing on my 80 I just cut them off at the ends of the shields and dressed the new ones around the engine bay.

Indeed. Thanks For the tips Vince.
I will definitely look for a different routing when changing wires.
