Hello all. I have a '68 convertible base model with a 300hp 327. I've owned the car for 45 years now and the 327 is starting to get tired. It's been a great cruiser engine but not exactly the power that I now want. So I'm going to mothball the 327 and if I ever sell the car, I'll offer the numbers matching engine to go with it. I've just received a new 425hp 383 crate motor for it that I'm getting ready to install with the help of a friend of mine. We have everything we need to do the swap..except..finding a set a block hugger headers. I have been searching the internet for a couple of weeks now and the only ones I can find are for angle plug heads. The aluminum heads on the stroker are straight plug. Does anyone have a suggestion as to where I might find a set and/or brand that will work for a Corvette and this application? Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Sanderson Headers.
They have been in business for longer than you’ve owned your 68 and produce the best quality header I’ve seen on the market.
Check their website and give them a call.
I just bought a set of mid-length Summit brand headers for my 76, I trial fitted them yesterday. They tuck in pretty close to the engine. Not the highest quality headers you'll ever see, they are ceramic coated, but they didn't break the bank, either: $344 and free shipping.

What did you go to for a cooling system, that small block radiator isnt going to be gig enough unless it was for an automatic. To swap it you need the big block support, its an easy swap luckily. The hard part is pulling the hoses and wiring from the lights through that little hole in the support. I believe the 66 though 68 big block radiator will work, I got a used dewitts 67 radiator from the c2 parts section, and the support is 68 only due to how its mounted to the frame. You could just buy the big block radiator cradles and weld them on, its the only difference in some of the supports. Mine has both the cradles and the pin brackets
IMHO, block hugger headers are a complete waste of money. They are in my eyes more difficult to install (welding collector to pipe in a tight area).....and reap none of the performance benefit a long tube header does.
Just curiously......what made you want a short header as your first choice?
Hey Jebby,
Sanderson Headers did some dyno tests which show the numbers.
For some people it will give them some gains and give them the ground clearances they want or need.
There is no comparison for a high performance engine that really needs to breath.
I do agree with you, but I can see the other side as well.
Here are the graphs Sanderson did on their dyno tests.
For anyone's info, I have a pair of slightly used, but good condition block hugger headers, suitable for experimenting with, or just low-cost option for headers I could sell.
Would like $100 plus actual shipping.
