Bouncy, or vibrations in the rear? I'll bet you need new shocks. Almost all C3s do unless the have a fresh set of Bilsteins or better. Vibrations could be a siezed U-Joint.

It took three tries rebuilding the parking brakes of my 79 to get them to pass the VA safety inspection. Hopefully yours are in better shape. You can remove the calipers without needing to disconnect the lines and re-bleed, but I bet you need new brake hoses in addition to tires.

Please post some photos of the rest of the car!

@Bikespace how do you get the brake caliper off without bleeding the brake? I also got some new tires to replace the +20 year old ones.

You can unbolt the calipers fom the mounts. Two bolts hold them on (the smaller inner bolts, the larger ones hold the caliper halves together).

Where the steel line meets the rubber hose, pull
the clip to let the union slide out of the mount on the trailing arm. Then you can ubolt the caliper and hang it out of the way with string or a bent clothes hanger.

I cut a piece of wood to slide between the pads to keep them apart, and make getting the calipers back on easier.

You really should replace the hoses, and flush the fluid, too, but hopefully this helps for the rotor and parking brake!

@Bikespace The calipers are brand new and so is the brake fluid. I had to change them because the old ones seals were broken. That's why I really don't want to bleed them again xD

then you should be expert at removing caliper....

it has to come off..as mentioned above you don’t have to bleed again..however on mine, i had to remove brake line to remove caliper bolt!

bleeding is not so bad, let them drip..
see the video in my link too... took me a while to figure it out..i also took a few pics of manual...you should take many pics so you remember how it goes back together

Quick question if all four pistons are pushed out on the caliper how can I push them back in and slide in the pad? I can push 1 side in for a pad but then i cant get the other side in the slide the pad down.

Get ready for one of the most hateful jobs possible with a C3 Corvette. Though that looks like one of the shoe linkage springs. You may be able to replace it without taking the shoes off, if you have a good pair of needle-nose pliers.

When you get a bit deeper, there are arrow-tipped pins that hold the retainer springs. One of them cannot be replaced without removing the backing plate, which requires removing the hub. So don't damage it. Search for "dental floss trick" on this Forum.

Good luck, and don't go deeper than you need to!

I always agree with you bikespace! And learned
but...
Unless someone has been in there..im probably advising to go in and at very low cost replace the springs and retainers..
not even stainless required..just cheap, reuse pads...and do other side..

or just replace that spring..but if those pins gets damaged when not if the retainer or spring brakes you are in for bigger job replacing those pins if damaged..

take lots of pics read some threads...do it

good luck!

I'll leave the rear brake discussions on C3's for others....

As for the white smoke - typically White smoke is coolant / steam. You might want to try changing valve cover gaskets - it's cheap and relatively easy - and it's likely yours are pretty hard by now - but if the smoke is really white in color - it's very unlikely that an oil leak is the cause...

Two ways to tell if you have a coolant leak:
1) Are you loosing coolant (it can take quite a while to lose a measurable amount of coolant) ?
2) Other way is a cooling system pressure test. Basically - you hook up a hand operated pump with a gauge, and pressurize the cooling system to around 15 psi - and see if it holds pressure. (sometimes you can borrow one of these testers from a auto parts store...) If it doesn't you then get to figure out where the leak is. It could be a loose clamp - it could be a head gasket, or darn near anything in between. If you do have a cooling system leak - the easiest way to figure out where the leak is is to put some leak check dye in the cooling system, then drive the car a bit, and look at the engine compartment in the dark with a black light. The dye will typically point you in the right direction.

GOOD LUCK !!!

I put 25 miles on the car today to see if anything would change. It still shots white smoke if I hit the gas and the car shakes when I'm at a stoplight but that might be normal I'm not really sure. The good news is that it can handle a 45 min drive with no problems however, I can feel every single thing on the road. I plan to replace the shocks here soon which might help with that a bit. I also replaced the valve gaskets but that's not where the smoke in the engine is coming from. I also wonder If replacing the bushings would help with the ride quality.

I'm having an issue with the right-side headlights. the right side turns light works just fine but the right side headlights both the low and high beam both don't work. I'm unsure where to look to figure out the issue and I don't think it is the bulbs because both low and high arent working.

I'm also having an issue with removing the rear emblem I have removed all the others without issue but I can't figure out how to remove this one.

Lastly, I am wondering if someone could point me to where I could find these style tail lights
