Newbie with a 1975 coupe. Corrected several electrical issues, but once again I am stumped. I'll try and explain it, hopefully I will make sense.
The cigarette lighter and the cigarette lamp has power, however neither work because they were not grounded. I did follow the advice of several members and I took another wire, touched one end to the light cover and other end to ground. When I did this both work. One member said to ground wire to spade under heater controls. Now here is where I am lost. in the wiring harness that has the wires both for the lighter and light have a negative wire, actually two negative wires attached together and it is attached to the spade under the heater control. This makes me think that the ground wire in the harness is the problem. That is where I am lost. How do I go about verifying that the wire is indeed faulty and if it is, what can I do? I hope I made some sense when explaining my issue. THanks
Set your meter on ohms (lowest scale, zero it if required), disconnect the negative battery cable and check continuity from the suspect wire to the negative battery cable. Should be less than 5 ohms.
