Instrument Cluster Removal
I copied this thread as I will be doing a brake booster R&R as well and didn't want to hijack that older thread. I have a couple of dash lights out and I only want to pull this apart once. I am having problems getting the spedo cable to release. I have the tab pressed in but I cannot get the cable to move. Any suggestions?
I am going to go ahead and pull my steering column as per a suggestion in another thread for those of us that have AC and a 4-speed transmission. It is 70%there anyway. I have watched a couple different YouTube videos but all were automatics and only one had AC. My instrument panel is being held on by the spedo cable and all of the connected wiring. My plan is to do the RockAuto rebuild service to rebuild my brake booster and master cylinder. This past Thursday I received new brake lines from Ecklers. BTW: the brake fluid had turned to a rusty mud in the bottom of the master cylinder over the past 7 years of storage. I figured new lines were in order and a caliper rebuild all the way around as well. I will turn the rotors and replace the 30+ year old brake pads
By pushing the cable towards the speedo head, you will be releasing the tension on the spring like clamp.
