Default 72 heat riser help

I pulled my engine and apparently didn’t pay enough attention to how my exhaust manifold connects to my exhaust. I don’t think my heat riser is the correct one, as mine has a beveled side. Is there supposed to be a gasket between the bevel and the exhaust flange and if so what is it called or look like?

Thank you
Keith

Yes, I agree. But I'm trying to determine who to make the one I have work. I think it just mounts directly to the flanged exhaust pipe, but I can't see how that will not leak.

I urge you to replace this with a wide open spacer.......you have a later model one.

Any chance these are available at a local parts store? I was really hoping to get it put back together tonight.

Thank you,
Keith

Not a chance....try a Corvette supplier near you?
You probably won’t find a factory heat riser either....
A lot of people simply cut the valve out and plug the side holes....but kinda ugly....
You could just put that one back on but it is in poor shape overall....
I recommend the spacer, gasket and new brass nuts.......

Does the one I have require a gasket? I may use this one now and then replace with the spacer when it comes in.

Thanks,
Keith

Yes, I know about the one between the riser and manifold, but is there one between the riser and exhaust pipe?

After trying to make what I have work, I still had leaks. In fact, both side had leaks. So I put a new donut on the driver side and am going to order this delete to fix the passenger side. Do I need the "sleeve" if I use this space? The reason I ask is because I actually put the sleeve on the drivers side (guess I didn't realize where it was supposed to go) and have no leaks on that side now. I really hate to have to pull this apart if I don't have to.

The biggest issue I have is the exhaust just doesn't line up easily and disconnecting it from the hangers will be a task. Whomever put in the back hangers thought it was a good idea to weld the nut to the bolt. So I would have to cut the bolts off, which would require removing a lot of stuff to get to it.

So, long post to ask if the sleeve is required on the riser side.

Thank you,
Keith
