Those links above look like a great place to start. You may wish to google search Corvette Clutch replacement. there have been a few threads on here the last couple years asking for clutch recommendations. Me, I put in a RAM clutch a couple years ago. It has good reviews on Summits site and a few others on here are running one. However, lots of choices.

Like most situations today, the number of choices can be overwhelming. My advice would be this:

As Interpon suggested, read up on the topic. Being informed beforehand is paramount.

Assess your driving habits, past, present and future. What “upgrades” are you contemplating? Your specific car (read horsepower and torque) is not a danger to your driveline so your existing clutch (deterioration aside) is more than capable of doing its job. No sense in spending more on a clutch than can handle 1000 horsepower if you aren’t going to modify your engine and/or are going to start drag racing the car.

Be aware of the differences in pedal pressures between various clutches. Don’t buy a clutch on marketing hype that requires a gym membership to increase your leg strength.

Talk directly to the clutch manufacturer. They know more about their product than anyone.

Learn about how to “read” a flywheel’s contact surface before you take the clutch out. If yours exhibits cracks and/or thermal distress, you may need to resurface it or replace it. If you replace it, be sure to replace with one of equal weight.

Learn about how to examine the pilot bushing in the crankshaft (where the transmission input shaft rides). Also learn how to examine the clutch forks for wear.

You could consider checking bell housing concentricity but if you have had no issues with vibration, this may not be necessary.

Buy a top quality throw out bearing.

I am partial to McLeod clutches but that’s just me. Plenty of other excellent choices out there.

The only confirmed clutch that releases fully with a Corvette Z-Bar and ball setup is the McLeod Street Pro.......and this is what most of the members here will recommend......
Others have had luck with the various brands......but a lot of people don't.
I myself went with a McCleod Super Street Pro and it is one of the best clutches I have ever installed.......light pedal pressure, good feel and no chatter.
I would never buy a Brand X clutch for one of these.....too much work for it to be wrong.

Stock L-82 cruising around I would go to Rock Auto and buy a Luk. Very nice replacement clutch. Crazy low cost for the level of quality. If this gets you done, you can't get a better value. Run one in my Camaro shifting at 6500 RPM (or so) and no issues.

If you get hard on it often you may want to step up to a Mcleod clutch. Cost is at least double but you know it will work if you need more capacity.

I would also seriously consider , this is the best time to install a 5spd along with the new clutch. I don't believe anyone's regrets doing it. . . Just a suggestion

Just that it might be just a couple more bucks than replacing a clutch.

I have installed several Luk clutch sets over the years and never had a problem with that brand. Whatever brand you go with make sure you test fit the clutch disc on the transmission input shaft and it freely moves on the shaft (fore and aft).

I had the clutch and flywheel replaced on my SB 73 by a Corvette Service Shop. I took advice from Ernie Willcox and ordered the LUK parts. Of course the flywheel I ordered was not correct, there are two different sizes (number of teeth, I think in the center). Make sure you look at the flywheel you remove to ensure you order the correct one.

is there anyway to find out the clutch flywheel size before removing the assembly off the car? I know in 75' they came with both a 10.5" and 11" clutch with either a 168 tooth flywheel or 153 tooth. just would like to order everything before hand, as im renting a hoist and want to have the job done as fast as possible with as little downtime as possible

Look at bell housing casting number on the side

"403" = 153 tooth, 10.5" clutch
"621" = 168 tooth, 11" clutch
