Default Whose offset trailing arms are good?

Hi Guys,

Can I lean on your advice again? I'm in need of new trailing arms and I'd like to get offsets, but there are a bunch to choose from. I think the leading contenders are either the Van Steel:
https://www.vansteel.com/index.cfm?f...p=3000&ID=3281

Or maybe the Global West:
https://www.globalwest.net/corvette-...1974-1975.html

The Van Steel had Johnny Joints, but the Global West has a similar mechanism with teflon so I wouldn't have to grease it. The Global West also routes the parking brake assembly through the trailing arm keeping it out of the way. Racevette has an interesting offer that modernizes the assembly, but there isn't a provision for a parking break.
https://www.racevette.com/store/p49/...ing_Hubs_.html

Steve at Racevette says he getting a new version in the next 2-3 months that should reduce the price a bit too.

At this point I'm going to stick with a leaf spring, but I will probably buy a composite when they come back in stock, and I'm going to get the 6 link dragvette setup.

So, are there better alternatives for offsets? Anybody have experience with Van Steel or Global West?

Thanks,
Simon

Global west makes high quality strong stuff. I had all there stuff on my old lingenfelter trans am years ago and I'd use their stuff again and likely will. The delalum bushings are great

Ridetech arms are awesome, but set up for coil overs.

If you are going to replace the trailing arm- it make the most sense to go with the rear coilover set up from Vansteel

By the time you replace the rear spring and a couple of shocks you are almost at the price of a complete rear trailing arm /coilover set up.

I like my Vansteel- Ridetech's are nice but cost about $1500 more

Why not? Honestly, I have some 255/55R17's on it that I'm pretty happy with, but you never know if I will want something different in the future. I guess it just opens up options, so if I have to replace them anyway, might as well go with offset. Is there a downside, other than not stock?

Thanks everyone. I really like the Ridetech and Van Steel coil overs, but I just spent $3200 on a racevette read end. I'm going to go with their six link as well. Damn. I think I may be convincing myself to buy a coil over. Anyone know if the Van Steel or Ridetech is compatible with the six link?

You will like that diff. I put mine in with the 3.5" half shafts about 400 miles ago and it has been great. I did it the same time I converted to Ridetech in the back.
I did not get the 6 link system, so I don't know about that.

Did you have to switch rims when you went from the old trailing arms to the Ridetech with the C7 hubs? I've been trying to figure it out, but not seeing an authoritative answer. It looks like the only difference is that the studs are a little longer wider?

Thanks,
Simon

Sometimes, sometimes not. Frame is still the limiting factor. 18's don't need offset arms

I installed the Van Steel coil over offset trailing arms last year and have absolutely no complaints. Well, I do have one, I’m on a waitlist for the front coil over conversion.lol

I really like my Global West arms. Did need to shorten the handbrake cable, but no other problems. Having said which, standard arms with the handbrake cable relocated give just as much wheel / tyre clearance if you are running 17" or wider wheels. I did this for quite some time, only went to the Global West arms when I started finding cracks in my factory arms... My car gets much harder use than most though.
