Ok ok - think this part (listed as GM #470386 according to the poster) could work as a direct swap (same era)...

I am not sure how to tell if I have options like seatbelt and headlight warnings... I have some old paperwork, but nothing that lists options. Would that be embedded in the VIN? Is that a thing to post VINs publicly in forums like this? Sorry all - getting the hang of this...

When you posted the Buzzer above it gave me a Group Number to reference.
So the buzzer number I was missing was the buzzer with Headlight Warning, found it.
77-78 With Headlight Warning or 79 W/O Headlight Warning Gr.2.195 GM # 377596
79-82 With Headlight Warning Gr.2.461 GM #14004971
I can't find a photo of the buzzer unit With Headlight Warning...

Hey hey! Seems you've posted about this before!

[QUOTE=bmotojoe;1602279256]
Yes, The buzzer unit 77-78 and some 79 used part number #377596 then the number was superseded to #14004971.
Although the Buzzer did advance in the circuit it was used as a replacement years 77-82.
I bought a new unit way back and later opened up the original and found the problem.
The photo on left is my repaired 77 original and the right photo is of the #14004971 unit both showing the mechanical set contacts between 1&2.
I believe Circuit #40 (Hot At All Times) somehow was back feeding just a small amount voltage and was the cause of the drain with the contacts fused with carbon.
The contact points are #2 Circuit #237 Seat belt warning light. [end QUOTE]

I guess I have to figure out if I have (or don't have) headlight warning capability (if I'm hurting for full functionality in this domain).

Thanks again! Smart people here!

I know there is absolutely 0 room under the dash but do try to look for a connector with 2 wires, just like in Interpon photo post #14.
Lt.Green & a Orange
Yes, that is me but now I know there is a second buzzer part number and as far as I know it's number is NOT superseded...
Here you go,
Read through this.

If we could get Interpon to post the part number of his a more positive match can be made.

Ok you guys gave me some bravery - I yanked it out just now.

And yes, I located a green and orange connector... The circuit board has a number stamp - circled it. Those two bent pins are touching (circled) depending on flow of electricity, that could be a short...

I haven't put power back to the system to see what effect it has yet...

I would pull up the electrical schematic for your 79 and see if this unit has a circuit going through it to provide power or ground to another component.
Just to be safe and so you don't end up with an open.

Safe to say no circuits will be interrupted by removing buzzer.
The Red arrows represent Connector #C122 Lt.Green & Orange Wires
The Lt.Blue arrows represent Connector #C123 That is the white 4 wire connector Buzzer is plugged into.
Red arrows: Lt.Green wire circuit 80 is a switched ground from the key in ignition switch.
The Orange wire circuit 40 is the Stop/Haz circuit and is hot at all times.
Lt.Blue arrows: White Connector there should be a pink/blk stripe wire circuit 39 from gauges fuse HOT when ignition is Start or On position.
2 black wires one is from the seat-belt switch circuit 238 and one is circuit 150 a common ground.
The Yellow wire circuit 237 goes to the seat-belt warning light.
Black arrow: LPS plug from Buzzer to Fuse Panel Switched and Fused.

Thanks for the reassurance! This is great... tremendous thanks again! Now I know I have pulled it safely, and that it won’t harm my system being gone while I contemplate my next move. Perfect.
