Rookie guess: a return line at that location would possibly starve the carb.
If a fuel pressure regulator/w return port was installed there, then you could adjust the pressure going to the carb by regulating/re-directing excess fuel to the gas tank (which is a "reverse way" of using a regulator).
Does your fuel pump supply the exact pressure that your carb requires?
Not sure about the fuel pump, probably pushes like 8psi like most pumps that I've seen online. The carb I believe requires like 5 to 6. It's a brawler 750 double pumper

Unfortunately when they built this they didn't bother asking if I needed a fuel pump that has a return line. They also didn't bother putting in a fuel filter
You are buying the fuel inlet line assembly.
This is a -06 an fuel inlet line kit for Holley Dual Feed 4150 series carburetors with 7/8-20 bowl inlet fittings and 9 5/16 center to center distance. This inlet line is equipped with show polished Red fittings and 30R9 steel braided hose with a 1/8" npt port in the tee fitting just in case you want to install a gauge to check you fuel pressure.
After replacing multiple crap small fuel pressure gauges.....I bought this AED piece and it is sturdy with a real glass sight glass...... https://www.summitracing.com/parts/aed-6101
Brawler carbs are patterned and owned by Holley. They will require 7 psi max......get a gauge on there and see where it is.

That's 1/8" pipe thread, and intended for a pressure gauge - not for return fuel.

Have you checked? That carb is set up for the sintered bronze in-carb filters in both the primary and secondary bowls, just like a Holley. You better check and verify that there aren't filters in both bowl inlets before you install another filter in the line... If there are no filters in the carb, install them.
...And get your distributor vacuum advance off that "ported" vacuum port and hook it up to manifold vacuum (unless you're trying to pass an emissions test).

I checked this out on Amazon and it didnt have a promising review but I will trust your judgment. Does this stay on the engine all the time or is it only for temporary uss?

Thanks for the info Lars this isn't the first time you've helped and it's always greatly appreciated! I'll double check my carb for filters. I never knew that was a thing!
I'll do some research on the timed vacuum thing I didnt know that was only for emissions.
In your photo, you can see the vacuum port that Lars mentioned, "full manifold" under the bowl.
Just remove that cap nipple and move the dizzy hose over to it. Then cap the port at the metering plate.
You will want a 12V lead to that choke tab but make sure the circuit is through the IGN switch "ON" only.
