What is the best way to secure the Mechanical Advance Stop from falling off. I have had them fall off numerous times and beside having the potential of over advancing, I am concerned were the bushing could end up.

If you're using the brass stop bushing, you lay the bushing on its side and give it a light whack with a hammer. Then, you pound it onto the stop pin. If you're using the stock-type rubber bushing, secure it with a "C-Clip" using the C-clip groove in the stop pin.
No current condition pictures. Lars rebuilt the dist about 8 years ago, and recently discovered when checking timing that it was over advancing. I replaced the bushing with a Mr Gasket bushing and used loctite to secure it. I have not driven very far with it since I replaced it. The timing seems to to ok at this point. I plan on driving to Mobile Al from NJ next year in recognition of 50 years of the 72 corvette celebration at the NCRS National. I would like to take the distributor out and change the points and condenser and re-secure the bushing.

I'm using the brass one, and did "egg" it like Lars suggested, however after it was on the post, I added a drop of Locktite super glue on the post just for insurance.
