Is your motor grounded? You say you had power to the coil and the distributor and not to the plugs? No power now means you fried a wire. Check for power at the starter, then at the horn relay You most likely burned up one of the fusible links between the two.
I bet you didnt have the wires connected correctly so that you had voltage during cranking at the coil or that you used the old wires and there wasnt enough voltage at the coils if youre using some sort of HEI set up. You need to get a helper so you can check voltage while the motor is cranking once you fix the power issue, or a remote starter trigger. Also check the ground from the battery to the frame. Thats been a problem in a lot of threads lately.
If you are using the stock resister wire from the 68 harness, you are not getting 12 volts to the Petronix. You need 12 volts at all times for the ignition to function correctly. Jerry
ok guys...found out by tinkering with the driver dash that my power would come on and off by moving the dash in and out...Jeez...all new wiring harness throughout the car..also noticed that my shifter was shocking my face when i was tinkering with dash....is that a hot wire touching metal or a bad ground?

that is a little circuit board that had a small electro magnet on it. When you push the button the magnet holds the switch open so the light goes out. When you turn off the car the magnet release the switch so the next time you turn it on the magnet is ready to hold the switch open when you depress it again. THey make an afternarket circuit board that just replaces the old one, but you have to take the dash apart to get to it. You can find it at Willcox or your favorite parts supplier

Sounds like you have quite a few grounding issues. The console is supposed to have a ground, your gauge console, both sides of the dash and the metal frame under the steering wheel are all supposed to be grounded.. you may want to take out your seats and spend some time on your back under the dash checking all your connections
You said you have a new wiring harness throughout the car.
Who manufactured the new harness?
I would start by disconnecting the battery, call the company who manufactured the new harness and start asking them questions.
Double check all the connections are correct per the manufactures schematic and instructions.
If it is flaw in the new harness, you could have a warranty claim if you don't start cutting things up first.
I would check continuity on everything before applying power again.

had a ground to speedo and to rpm..also to center gauges..also to shifter plate...no exhaust yet...will update when i figure this out..Thanks.. Malcolm
Harnesses came from lectric limited through corvette central
They have an excellent reputation for their harnesses quality and their customer service.
Is the harness one of their restoration harnesses or is the new restomod harness they just came out with?
ok guys...switch was bad on wiper door...ground was bad on blower motor and wiper motor..going through all wiring and parts checking for bad grounds and adding a few extra..even with new wiring you can still have ground issues...will update when I figure out how to get it running
ok guys...had ground issues...blower works..wiper works..the wiper door switch was bad..put ground to wiper switch housing also..the override switch..was not grounded properly...got a feeling I need to work on ground strap from block to frame..then will try to crank...thanks for your input..it was well worth it
