I just completed the restortaion the frame/chassis, engine, and tranny on our new '68 Corvette and I want an L88 hood for it, even though it's a smallblock 350. Which one do I need?
The "Long Style" from Ecklers (Part# 10421 )
OR The Ecklers "1968-72 Design Hood" (Part# 10415)
The Long style says that It will eliminate the wiper "door." What does that mean? That I won't be able to have a functioning wiper system?
Thanks all.. and I will post pictures of the car so far (No interior/paint/glass etc...I'm sure you know) if you'd like...
You probably need the short style if you just want to replace the hood. The long style is for 73 and up or if you want do do away with the wiper door and setup.
Yup, 68 - 72 had the short hood. I still find that ppl. love to see that wiper door pop up, so I your door is working go for the short, period correct hood.

This looks like a BB/LT-1 hood. The L-88 hoods don't have the center bridge and are much taller. The BB hoods were designed for use on BB with a stock low rise manifold or a hi-rise SB(LT-1) manifold. The L-88 intake was approx 1.5 inches taller than the stock BB intake. This required a taller hood.
