Anyone have a suggestion for a Battery Kill Switch on an Optima Battery with side posts?
I installed this and when I leave my Vette I take the key and then it would be very difficult to take. I cut the positive cable and soldered on lug ends. No battery drain for extended storage either.
That seems involved? Was looking at the direct battery mount with the **** but clearance seems to be an issue. Really just need it to avoid a short/fire. Our garage is right underneath our bedroom...horrible place to have a fire start. Is it simple to install? any other suggestions appreciated? Thank you all.
i bent up a piece of copper plate and mounted a "removable key switch style" on my side post battery
even added small screw terminals so i could keep the clock (after running a new wire) and radio memory still connected.
I use the knife style battery cutoff in all four of my C3s, works great, piece of mind when stored, collector car insurance gives discount for use too.

I recently installed the knife type switch (Napa) like 74 Stingray has pictured. Took about twenty minutes. Attach to negative cable first, then attach to battery post I found the easiest way to do it.

I sent ya a messg. Here’s mine. 100amp breaker from auto parts store. Push red button kills all and on bottom of it a red tab comes out just push tab in and it resets. Wired radio memory to constant hot side. Hope this helps. Ps. I bought the shortest pos. Cable I could find to go to batt from breaker. It’s clean and tight. No keys to lose

I've used those breakers in other applications, and they work great. Is 100 Amps enough to run the starter? I'd think a 250 Amp unit would be a better choice, since you are only using it as a switch anyway.

I have used just the 100amp with no problems at all. I would like to believe if you trip the breaker starting the car then there’s another problem. I don’t think 200 amp would be needed but I’m sure someone will correct me on this. I have had mine I for two years turned off and on to many times to count. No problems at all. Great knowing all batt is turned off so no drainage.

I use a similar cooper bussman circuit breaker with lower amp ratings for my fan and fuel pump circuits on my carbed C4. For my battery cut off switch I like the cole hersee 24059 heavy duty switch.
