1973 L48 question
If you will read my comment I tried to talk you in to jumping on this car in as polite a manner as I could.
My 69 is a base 350 4speed with power steering and AC. I am the third owner. I was looking for a car that was in as close to the same condition as if I were buying it new. No mods, no rebuild, just well maintained. I think thats what you are trying to do.
With Lars assistance I recurved the distributor, put in the recommended vacuum can and the limiting plate from Lars, all timing of 34 degrees in at 3000, initial timing is at 12 degrees. I am totally satisfied with the performance of this car as it sits. I know it is faster than my 66 GTO I had in high school (God rest her sweet soul) and that was a handful. Car handles beautifully with Bilstein shocks. It has 3.36 gears with that M20 tranny and is stout off the line and a blast out to about 80 mph. Nothing like the sound of that Rochester WAAAAAAAAAAAH. I would drive this car anywhere.
My C5 will absolutely stomp this car but I love to drive it for exactly what she is, just what I wanted back in 1969 but I can now afford it.
Five years in now and the only thing I had to do was replace the water pump.
You will kick yourself if you let her slip out of your hands!!

190 net HP, but 4 speed, ps, pb, pw, air. Frame, body, paint excellent, interior very nice. If I can put a hose on it and wash and no wet rugs that's important to me.
If engine, trans all check out I'm thinking two things, I would like opinion on anyone who has done the following. And not changing cam.
Set timing to 36 all in at around 2,800 and richen up Q-Jet and just drive it.
Or, do above and add Edelbrock smaller chamber heads and intake. One that fits with stock air cleaner and cowl hood.
Thanks.
