I have a 74 454 with a few issues. None of the gauge lights work. The only interior lights that work are the blinker indicators.
Might be relevant:
Whenever I touch the wiper switch, I get badly jolted. It's not static, it's a jolt and it happens every time. It has a crappy aftermarket stereo head unit. I've only had the vehicle for a week, so I can't help with the history.
What are the things I've marked 1-5? What looks incorrect?
1)Courtesy light holder- not correct replacement- for 78 later
2)Headlight over- ride switch
3)Trip odometer switch- or an added on power wire behind it?
4)Courtesy light holder
5) Rear window defroster
Search on the Forum and download a wiring schematic for a 1974 car. I would address the wiper switch that is causing a Shock, immediately, that’s how electrical fires and burnt wires begin. By a disconnect for your battery so you won’t be working on any circuits that have are live (voltage), please don’t ask me how I know! The replacement of fuses on C3’s are a fun job either.

That's very good advice. I've just moved to HI and don't have tools here yet, but I'll pick up a small kit, an electrical tester, and a disconnect.
