Hey all, so I stopped at a gas station and when I tried driving out, the engine wouldn’t catch. Turned over just fine but was just coughing. Popped the hood and noticed the cap (circled in red on the pic) was missing. Sealed it with tape and the engine started to drive the few minutes back to my place. Trying to order a replacement but have no clue what that cap is called. Engine is a 383 small block
The oil fill cap? Those are center-bolt aftermarket valve covers, so I can't guess what is under the cap, but it is likely to be either a bayonet-mount cap, push-in, or a screw-in. Here's an Amazon search to get you started, try to find something that looks like it works, or go to Autozone and buy a Dorman cap.
Do you have a PCV valve on the other valve cover? Convention is breather on the passenger side, PCV valve on the driver side. Is yours reversed, or absent?
Hope you got the replacement breather for the car.
On a side note, check your air filter for deterioration, i had the same Edelbrock/Weiand air filter and the foam rubber started to fall apart after a few years.
@Bikespace, actually not positive that there is a PCV valve on the other side. New to the mechanical side of this, does this (passenger side) look right?
are you sure there wasn't supposed to be a PCV valve in there? what is the big black hose that goes from under the carb to under your red circle at around 3 ocklock? cuz if that is off it is a huge vacuum leak.

It looks like you have two breathers. It can go in either, but convention is for a breather on the passenger side, and for your driver-side valve cover to have a PCV valve. That connects to the large vacuum port under the front of your carb. I don't know if it is there under your Holley, but what I circled may be a vacuum cap covering a port (or a shadow). Read up on the system here, or elsewhere, before you change anything. It should be possible to find the correct gasket and PCV valve for those valve covers. There are also expensive adjustable PCV valves, that add some bling while also working at non-stock vacuum levels.
I also don't know enough about Holleys to tell you if your vacuum advance is hooked up to a ported or manifold vacuum port. Manifold vacuum is preferred. When you are ready to dive into timing, you may be able to eliminate some of the starting issues you are experiencing.

Good eye! I had assumed that was the line to the power brakes, but the red circle obscures it, so it is worth checking.
