Speedometer drive gear

Hello All,

I have a 1980 C3 that has had a shaky speedometer. I recently upgraded to dakota digital dash which is awesome but I'm still see speedometer has a bounce above 40MPH. Since it no longer uses the cable and is all digital I'm assuming the issue if the drive gear. Has anyone else seen speedometer needle bounce caused by drive gear?

Yes. Alot of work to replace a $10.00 gear.

Thanks for the reply. Anyone know how many teeth came on stock 1980 L48 3.07 rear end? Do I need to replace anything else (seals etc.) or just the gear?

700r4 would be
La Speedometer Gear 9774413 34 Tooth Speedometer Driven Gear
light green for a 308 rear

Thanks. I have the stock T350 but I've been reading and might possibly sway out to 700r4. Did you make the change? Is so how'd it go?
