. Here is a picture of it. maybe ash tray light? I can't find the hole anywhere? Thank you everyone for your help.
Do you have a late build 1977?
If so ALL main dash harnesses were built the same, both manual transmission and A/T transmissions.
I have a spare late built 77 dash harness that came out of a manual transmission car and it has that light socket.
If you had a A/T transmission it would illuminate the gear selector position window.
okay, but it does dim when I turn the headlight switch down. Its on the same circuit as the other lights that dim like the two lights on the bottom and the dash lights. So, where does this plug into? Do you know?
@bmotojoe explained.. often and in my 79..it just sits there.. for manual.
no clue if they put a bulb in originally but i put one in for fun.. and protect leads..
always thought about a use for it..
Bottom line. You don't have an automatic transmission, so it doesn't go anywhere.
They use the same harness for both auto and manual cars.
It has a use with a automatic transmission car. no use on your car. remove the bulb and put your console back together.

You have a manual transmission car.
There is NO socket for that light.
You could always let it dangle out the passenger counsel side panel if there is a ankle bracelet to stare at......
