Hey oh! Purchase the new padding/insulation from Corvette Central along with the new Carpet. I'm having trouble with the 2 front Seat screws that go into the Frame/body to hold the Seat down. Anyone know what type of screws these are and If I can get them approx. 1/4" - 1/2" longer? ...thinking hardware store run with old screw, but wanted to ask here first. The new padding and carpet bump everything up just enough to rise up and not be able to thread it. New Carpet makes a big difference!
I ran into the same thing, just take one of your bolts to your local hardware store and get 3/8" - 1/2" longer grade 8 bolts and problem will be solved
The seat track does not go on top of the carpet there should be a flap cut out of the carpet that lets the seat track sit right on the fiberglass floor
I didn’t cut the new carp because that would be another chance for me to make a serious mistake. Use an electric (pointed pick) to find the seat and all other holes, then use a Pointed Soldiering Iron to make the holes. Strange but my bolts were long enough to go through everything. Look at Toylman’s picture so you can see the nice job he did around the seat belt recoil and slit. Let you carpet sit in a hot car all day and even the wheel humps will go in easy.
You don't want carpet trapped between the seat rails and the floor. That just allows the seat to 'wiggle' and NOT be completely locked down to the floor.
