I have always known how to paint a car. I just never have painted a car. This one is my first. I'd like to say that it's not as hard as it looks, but yes it's every bit as hard to do as you think. The doors fit pretty good before we took them off so we just went for it and painted them. They will be coming back off and having some fiberglass work done on the gaps and re painted. The paint is PPG Concept single stage.
So I learned a lot. (1) if you make a few small repairs in the gaps the work you are doing is more than you think. (2) even if you put the body shims exactly back in place it will never be exactly the same. (3) I you have an ugly car with good gaps when you make it a nice car those gaps just aren't as good as you thought.
. I'm headed to Alaska to do my day job till April so this one is getting put on the back burner for a wile.
