Can anyone suggest an app that does the same thing as Dragy, but just uses the GPS and accelerometer on your phone? I'm not looking to contribute to Strava for cars, nor do I have OBDII (obviously).

The Dragy is only $150... it’s extremely accurate, user friendly and has a HUGE following on social media....they even have their own Dragy database. It really is the way to go. Way easier to use then the old V Box was.

Using the phone itself as an accelerometer isn’t feasible. It’s just not accurate.

Thanks for the clarification! It wasn't at all clear to me that it was more than just a phone app. That explains why it didn't work!

Here's a link to the Dragy device, for anyone else as clueless as I was.

There's no mention of an accelerometer, just a 10 Hz GPS / ГЛОНАСС module, which I can find for an Arduino for $20-.

Great to see the C3 still getting it done!! That's just flat out a great all around build!

Mine doesn't want to hook up even at 80-100+ with drag radials! LOL

Yeah I haven’t had it out that much due to all the Buick BS but...when it comes out, I beat the brakes off of it. Lol.

It’s old school but can hold it’s own.

Your car is a freakin monster... if you could ever hook that thing from 60, I bet it would run low 4s in the 60-130.... if not faster.

My turbo bike goes 3.30s 60-130 for comparison....

That was hilarious. I actually chuckled out loud several times while watching it. So much for newer high tech stuff. Good job, GO...C3 POWER! Gotta watch out for the MAN!

Yeah after the 3rd rebuild, I decided to start over. Found an original NA 3.8 short block, took it to the machine shop and starting fresh. Doing billet middle caps, main cap girdle, new Eagle crank and using my current rods/pistons, and my top end/valve train. Hopefully this one makes it....but I do have a TA Performance aluminum block on order, Crower Billet crank and billet rods etc. That engine is probably a year and a half out, so that’s why I’m building another stock block motor now just to get the car running. This is car probably the worst project I’ve ever had.

yeah I saw it. While I love the amount of power it makes and the enginuity they put into it, they basically made it a Monte Carlo. A turbo regal needs to have a turbo V6....period. Although after 3-4 rebuilds, I do get the logic to LS swap.

AJ Just curious how much power you are making with the Buick and what kind of trouble you are having with it?

What sort of clearances are being used on the mains and rods? What are the diameters?

The problem is it keeps wiping out thrust bearings, in very short periods of timing and minimal load. Initially, we checked all of the usual stuff, flex plate clearance, sent the converter off and had it cut open/inspected etc, never found a smoking gun. So builder #1 went through it, couldn’t find an actual cause
so he just reassembled it with new bearings and sent it back. Well it made it 300 miles before chewing bearings. I sent it back to builder #1 and he went through it again, he sent the crank off to a crank shop for check out/polish, reassembled the engine and sent it back. I decided to change the converter at this point, just in case. Well 300 miles later, more bearing material. I ran it for about 1k miles because I was too pissed off to pull it apart again. Eventually I did, then took it to a local builder here in Houston that does a lot of buick 3.8s, 9 sec motors. So I have them to a full rebuild, re-machine it all etc. This time we bored it, put custom Diamond pistons in it, a custom valve train etc...sank another $10k in it....Also changed to a non lock up converter. And 230 miles later, it’s chewing copper.

At this point, I pull it back out, it’s back at builder #2, they can not find any issue with the engine that would cause the thrust to get wiped. I sent the trans cross country to have it torn down and inspected for clues of pump issues etc, I had already measured converter charge pressure and it was right in spec.

So currently, I bought another stock, standard bore block, new billet caps, new crank and we are starting over from scratch. It’s in the machining stages now....fingers are crossed...

That does sound like the bottom end oiling problem that Jeff ran into and solved IIRC. I'll ask his son to see if he remembers. Have your builder check the main oil gallery feed holes to the lower end. May need to be be drilled out / cleaned up. Worth a look. I don't remember if it was blockage, core shift, or just too small, but D'Allesandro blew one engine after another until Jeff fixed that. Both those guys are gone now....

I ended up starting over with another stock block, new billet caps, new main girdle. It’s all machined up now. Just waiting on rings that are back ordered from Total Seal. HOPEFULLY ill get the engine back by Feb. 🥺

But anyway, back to Vette debauchery....this is the corvette forum after all... 😎

Anyone get any street action in over the holidays? 😬
