Well, it's fitted and tacked. 1986 C4 front suspension on aftermarket C5 Z06 wheels in my 1979 C3.
While it's not for everyone, it's exactly what I was hoping for. Significantly more room, better looking and I full expect it to be a VAST improvement over the 1950s tech of the C3 front suspension. Now to weld it all it, finish plating out (filling holes in) the frame, and then I will move to (installing) the 1986 rear suspension.
Looking back at it, do you think it could have been narrowed at least a few inches? I have some interest in doing this, but I never was a fan of positive offset wheels on a C3.

I tossed the idea around and I certainly could have, but ultimately decided to stay full C4 width. When I was tossing the idea of narrowing, what I thought of doing was cutting the center out of the C4 cradle and weld it together. This is what people do with C5 and C6 front cradles when they narrow them to go in other vehicles. Obviously, this would have required a narrower rack and playing with the rack location. It would also need confirmation that nothing else changed in the dynamics of the suspension. It wasn't worth it to me.
I personally like the positive offset wheels (at least on the later C3s) as it "updates" them a little. The combination of the look and the better handling made the choice for me.
