I picked this up from a local guy for 20 bucks. He said he pulled it out few weeks ago and replaced with edelbrock avs2 and worked great when it was in his C10. There’s a plate near to driver side secondary with number 1904.

it's pretty amazing to see choke break diaphragm still holds vacuum when disconnected the hose and tested it after 35 years since it's birth. gonna try it next week to see if it comes to life. thanks.
Yes.
Edelbrock clone of Quadrajet. Most parts interchange. Been discontinued for many years. Good ones are rather desirable.
Also, they have rivets in choke housing. Did they just set choke settings back then and locked people out so u can't adjust them? use like 1/4 drill bit and break them off and replace them with screws?
That looks like a 1904 to me.
I purchased a 1903 back in the early 2000's for my 77.
The difference is the 1903 has the Hot Air Choke housing and 1904 is setup for a electric choke.
One thing to beware of is the port designed for the vacuum advance is ported vacuum NOT manifold vacuum.
Here is a photo showing the vacuum advance port above the throttle plate on the 1903.
If you look at the right side EGR port it is also machined above the throttle plate for ported vacuum, that is correct for the EGR.
For $20 you did OK...

I didn’t know the port was ported vacuum. I installed it today and fire up great. I will use manifold vacuum port the the advance tomorrow. One question is that is this carb too big for bone stock L48? I read its 794 cfm. The choke housing had rivets and also locking key slot where you couldnt go pass certain position to turn the housing wheel. I drilled out the rivets and had to go IN on the choke break screw to get the car to start and maintain idle. It’s running fine since.

No not too big for a L48, my 77 is a L48 and it ran, just OK.
A few years later when I felt comfortable I rebuilt my original carburetor and re-installed it.
I was told these Edelbrock Q-jet clones were actually designed for a truck application.
I hope it works out for you!
