Tilt/telescoping

On my 72 with tilt/telescoping column, the key will not go to the accessory side of the switch. What can be the problem?

Are you pushing the key/ignition switch in before turning the key counterclockwise?

Is the steering wheel “Free” and not locked by the anti theft pin inside the steering column?a My 2001 Camaro on occasion will not allow the key to be turned “to start” position, if the steering wheel is locked with some pressure. I simply turn the wheel an inch or so to relieve the pressure (from the steer wheel lock” and then I am able to turn the key in the ignition to start position.

You may need an adjustment of the ignition switch on the lower part of the column.
