I talked to one of the guys at Van Steel when I ordered my strut rods voicing concerns over crumbling poly, he assured me that there would be no problems, I guess we shall see...

At $70, they are budget enough that if the bushings give up, I’ll replace the ends with Heim joints and will probably still be money ahead.
we’ll see how they fit up.
Interesting. Rods were delivered today and the ends look like, smell like, and feel like rubber bushings.

Couple minor issues with this set so far: the square plates that replace the cams were just a hair too wide to fit inside the channel in the differential bracket. Had to grind about 1/16” off them. Also, weirdly the bolt & nut they supplied is metric, and therefore a little sloppier in the plates than I like. So, I’ll stop at the hardware store and grab a couple 1/2” x 3 1/2” grade 8 bolts. No biggie.

The front A arms move in a single plane (up and down) which poly can handle. The rear strut rods and TA bushing move in two dimensions which distorts the poly bushing causing it to crack and eventually crumble. Both move in two arcs 90 degrees apart.

Excellent explanation makes total sense.Seen a video where a guy was removing his and banged on them and they wouldn't come out till he jacked up the wheel and they fell right out.

unless you are running on the track don’t waste ur money on heim joints .. for local cruising replace with standard strut rod or better yet if ur strut rods are original and not bent take them off a press in new rubber bushings for a fraction of the cost .. 7 bucks per bushing.
