GM Shop Manual
is there a gm shop manual specifically for the 78 corvette? i'm seeing on ebay, manuals that cover caballero, el camino, malibu, nova, monte carlo, camaro and corvette all in one book, but that's all.

Yes they do make one for the 78...Try these sources and keep us posted on what you find. Haven't tried these in about a year but should be helpful

http://www.factoryautomanuals.com Used shop manuals - cheap, about half price
DNG Marketing - (905) 670-4070 The 'other' source for genuine GM service manuals - at a substantial discount. In Canada gives outstanding service and because of the currency differences between the US and Canada - you get a real savings - because they are Canadian doesn't mean that they do not ship to the US

Schmucker's comment surprised me only because I assumed there was always a Corvette Service Manual. I checked out Helm Inc I learned that indeed, and according to their records for repriints, Corvette Service Manuals began in 1977.
Before 1977, Corvette was included in the Passenger car series. So I guess my question to early C3 owners is...what do you use?

Corvette Service Manuals began in 1977.
Before 1977, Corvette was included in the Passenger car series. So I guess my question to early C3 owners is...what do you use?

I just got a mesage back from Dan Bower at factory automanual and he has a 78 manual in stock. Best jump on it before someone else does.

I would like to see a picture of the manual helms sends. In 1978 the service manual covered all the vehicles you mentioned not just the corvette. Maybe they have something new out?

I got the following:
1. 1978 Corvette Electrical Troubleshooting Manual
2. 1978 Malibu Camaro Monte Carlo Nova And Corvette Service Manual
3. 1978 Passenger Car/Light Duty Truck Unit Repair Manual
4. 1978 Passenger Car Wiring Diagram
This is the best set of manuals I have seen. Especially the ELECTRICAL TROUBLESHOOTING MANUAL, 11X17 Color Coded, saved me a bunch of time.

I just looked at factory automanual, all I see there is the Haynes. I have it also. It’s not nearly as detailed as the Helm set, but hey it’s only 10 bucks.
