Default 1982 AC / Heater / Blower not working

I have seen a couple of related threads but need to start a new one as my schematic and problem are unique. Problem description: climate control not working. I have not found a schematic that matches my car so I am at a bit of a disadvantage. The Haynes manual is worthless. Here is what I have found; the power to the brown wire going to the control switch fluctuates 5v +/- .5v, but there is 12 v at both sides of the fuse for the A/C. Contrary to some schematics, I don't have a brown wire at the resistor; there is light brown, light blue, tan, and yellow. I have to assume the brown wire is in parallel with some other circuit, or perhaps has a short, but am hoping someone can shed light as I don't have a reliable schematic.

So we don't get sidetracked, I have tested the blower, blower switch, relay, and resistor and all are working. I ohmed out the control switch and it appears to be working as well. I am assuming I need 12 v on the brown wire at the control switch.

Thanks in advance, I can upload photos as needed.

The brown wire at the mode switch goes straight to the A/C-heater fuse. It's possible it's a bad connection on the back side of the fuse box.

I’d start with the blower operation. Turn key all the way forward for ACC power. Slide both heater controls on the console to right, put the blower on high. You should now hear the blower run. If not check purple (12v) and black ground at the blower (pass side front of heater box). If no power at the blower motor, work your back, checking the 25a fuse first and then the heater relay. It’s really a simple circuit, just need to work your way back until you find the issue.

Once you get blower and heater working tackle the AC.

Thank you Skids. Couple of questions. Can you tell me where you got this schematic, and where does the yellow wire from the resistor pack come from?

If the problem is the back side of the fuse box, I'll be doing without AC.

The yellow wire comes from HVAC mode switch, buss #51. The wiring diagram is a lectric limited from eBay. It's okay but hard to read the cavity numbers. Getting to the back of the fuse box isn't all that difficult. Once you get that brown wire powered up everything should start working.

You live in Gilbert and you won't be using AC...in the summer? You must not drive your car during the summer at all since we both know how HOT it is in the summer here. Mine sits in the garage the entire summer.

Mine sat all summer too, which is why I'm trying to fix it. Didn't expect it to be this difficult since it used to work not that long ago. Whoever designed the fusebox location for C3's should be flogged, as a minimum.

I'm pretty sure all of that is operational, but without 12v on the input to the control switch, none of it will function.
