Default C3 With Flares

Starting this to share pictures and thoughts with those that love flares on c3’s. This isn’t for the purists, just those like me that love a C3 with great looking flares and wheel/tire combos. If there’s enough interest we could make this a sticky so those considering flares could see the options and combos out there.

Both great examples of good looking flare and wheel combinations. Love the red transition stripe on yours, Ian240.

Little more finishing required... 2" Flares from Ecklers. Were on the car when I bought it in 1981 (resale red)

Circa 1981

Ian what brand flares are those, they are perfect!!

Flow perfect with the lines, looks like it coulda come from GM that way

Love flared out C3s they were made for it. Crazy scoops, paint etc. This is a BATs thread no doubt!

Be sure to read BPE’s warranty “fine print”.I may be wrong, but it’s my understanding that they won’t warranty engines used in any racing application.
Worth verifying before opening the wallet…

I attempted 315 Hoosier R1 slicks with 345 rears. I played with alignment and pressure and finally gave up. I don't think that I had enough front end weight to make them bite. Front end push on turn in clear past the apex. Oversteer to try and turn. I had some in car videos of the front of the car sliding to the outsides of the turns When they burned up, I went back to 295 fronts that always worked so well.

Big front tires really work the power steering pump. I put a tranny cooler on the low pressure return side and my pumps last longer.
