Stock factory wheels are 4" back spacing. The wheels I have are 4 1/2" backspacing which will work, others on the forum have used them without any issues. I'm using 1/2" spacers to match the 4" back spacing. You need longer wheel studs if you choose to use spacers.
Getting rid of the BFG's on my 65 Impala to go to a 17/18" combo improved EVERY part of how that car drives. There were no downsides at all. The conclusion I came to was that all sub $200 15" tires available today are crap compared to decent speed rated 17"+ tires in the same price range..
