When I go to electric fans I'm thinking I'd want to wire one thermostatically and the other always on.

ONe thing I have noticed about my conversion to a late 80's camaro radiator with one single 16 inch '87 vette fan in the original cut shroud....iis that loosing about a quart of water from the radiator is getting close to allowing overheating....2 quarts and it's done...down here in sunny Florida....
now up north...well never a problem....

I find the running calibration of new thermostats to be way off from the actual temps stamped on them.....

frankly, it's hard to find a stat what allows running at the listed temp...even on winterish days....say 40f air temp.....I don't have an overheating problem as the car runs same all the time regardless of ambient temp....

even on freeway....so something is rong...I think it's the stats....

I am running the dual Flex-a-lites. They are working fine for me so far. I didsee a benchtop working display of the Spal model and it definitely moved more air than mine, and was a beefier unit, although more expensive. I think more of your cooling capacity is related to the size and condition of the radiator itself, and of course, a good stat and no leaks. JMO

Dual Spals from DeWitts! So far one of the best improvements I've made on my car. It works great even with my old copper radiator, on at 195 off at 175.
Same here except my Spals came from B Cool.

I went to the junkyard yesterday and thought I would pick up some Camaro fans. The guys down there don`t want to talk to you so I just walked on them. Sucks too, cause they have a great yard full of junk/stuff. I have been seriously considering the dual flexalite pictured above by Fevre and Red73.

I recommend DeWitts. Get to deal with.

I just installed one from a late model Camaro. Seems to be working great temp never rises above 180. I'm going today to help Dad finish putting one on his 54 5 window Chevy.
