Default Hypertech power tuning product

HI ALL - I have a 1996 C4 LT-1. There is a sticker on the door that says "THIS VEHICLE IS EQUIPPED WITH HYPERTECH POWER TUNING PRODUCT - CARB E.O. NOS D-260-0 THRU D-260-9 - FOLLOW FACTORY TUNEUP SPECIFICATIONS"
I understand its a chip installed in the ECM. I did not receive anything else with the car, like a plug in device to program it or whatever. I understand from reading old threads here that it changes the fan turn on temp, which is a good thing since both fans go on at about 190 - 200.
My question is do I need to worry about it or just let it do whatever it does?

For 1996 vehicles, try asking in the C4 section, this is the 68-82 C3 section.

Are you able to ask the previous owner whether or not he liked the way the Hypertech product worked?

I don't think I'd want both fans to turn on at the same time, so I don't like that aspect of what you'd mentioned. Even if you wanted maximum cooling, it would be good to stage the electrical load so that one fan came on at 190 and another at 195 or so. Usually one fan is enough to cool a C3 down. Not sure about C4s.

I think the 96 C4 uses flash memory instead of EEPROM, but I could be wrong on that. The earlier C4s used replaceable ROM chips.

(and yes, I agree, this post should go to C4 tech)

94-96 LT1 has the same flash PCM. There are really good freely available tools to read and write that PCM. The fans are wired to run in series or parallel so both always run, but make sure the low speed comes on at a lower temperature then the high speed.
