In need of some help. Just installed a new headlight/dimmer switch. My dimmer/gauge lights came on briefly then went off and i cant get them back on again. Checked fuses they were good but i replaced anyway and still nothing. Headlights working and everything, just the gauge light. Anyone got some advice? Thanks!
Are you sure the switch **** isn't rotated all the way counterclockwise? Or is it all the way clockwise? I think counterclockwise dims the dash all the way... Aw, hell, one way dims them all the way - make sure it's not that!

Yeah I've turned it back and forth 1000 times. Do you think it could be the new switch? Anything else I should look for? Again it did work at first when I installed and now not working.
Verify that the dash is grounded. Easy to test; simply grab a length of wire, attach one end to the negative side of the battery and touch the other end to a bare metal part of the dash/center cluster and see if the lights come on.
If that works at least you know you're looking for a bad ground.

The original switches are easy to take apart, clean and re-assemble. I had 2 original that I "restored". I'm sure they will work, but I have not tested them. What was wrong with your original?

My original pretty nasty and the rheostat was too worn making the gauge lights not come on at all. The new switch works for the headlights and taillights. No fuse being blown but the gauge lights won't work. Same problem as my old switch. The gauge lights came on with new switch but now won't come on at all. No fuses blown anywhere. Have no clue what is going on!
