What's the stock wiring look like for the glove box? I have a 73.
wiring diagram states black/orange connects to orange wire from wiring harness but both of these are same type of connector (female).
Then black wire from light is supposed to connect to black wire from wiring harness, both are male. Did PO mess up connectors somehow or is wiring diagram wrong??
See pics below Glove box light wiring shows orange/black connected to orange, and both grounds connected to eachother. Both black wires with same connector Orange wire and orange/black wire, same connector type
I'm wondering what happened, are the connectors wrong or wiring diagram. Only thing I see different is that a different terminal of switch will have power than intended if the wiring diagram is correct.
I tend to trust the wiring harness more than switch wiring, so I will venture either wiring diagram is wrong or switch connectors are wrong.
If you look at the new light assembly (Top Flight from Lectric Ltd.) one plastic connector is Male and the other is Female. The assembly line workers didn’t have time to look at wire colors. You may want to get some of the FREE vendor catalogs that show system assembly illustrations, they are way more detailed than the AIM, or the Chevrolet Service Manual. Get a bunch of catalogs from different vendors, as they don’t all show the same illustrations. You may need a new light assembly, that comes with the two afore mentioned connectors.
Are you talking about the footwell light ? Orange and White (bottom right of photo)
No, my question was about the rear compartment light located in middle compartment behind the seats.

I got it from the 73 Chevrolet Service Manual for Corvettes. I scanned each page from the book, printed it out on 11x17" paper, taped it together, and used colored markers to trace the circuits I've looked at.
