So I need to replace the heater core on my 72, all I can find are aluminum aftermarket ones called many vendors told this is all you can get now! Can I make it fit yes but would prefer to find the correct one.
NO MATTER WHAT YOU DO...
test test test after tubes are bent where they need to go before re assembly.
Paragon helped me. no USA left. i would consider re-coring the original and test test test AFTER pipes bent.. also the price has doubled for china or mx replacements.. https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...9-l82-m-2.html
Kind of off topic but not really,
The old Harrison plant where that stuff was made is not far from me... They built a new plant near that which became Dephi Harrison and then just Delphi, I had a couple friends that worked there and I had equipment I used to service there. last I knew, GM was still cutting the paychecks even though officially they didnt own them anymore. My friend told me they did this so GM could buy more of their radiators from china and foreign companies could buy more of ours as some sort of trade deal work around. Delphi still makes radiators today there but I was told their biggest customers are now foreign owned car manufacturers for the car they actually make here. The guy that owns Federal Mogul owns Delphi now im told.
I had another customer at a heating and cooling company at the time that moonlighted for a Canadian company that employed him to copy the Delphi designs and send them to Canada were that company had Chinese clones made. he was using the blueprint machines I serviced at the time to copy these plans.. So in that case at least china had help..

Funny this came up ,, I dont even know where I got mine from but it was brass and it was the first thing
I had to replace on my car. I remember paying 83.00 for it and it was one of those situations where not
only did you have to replace the heater core but everything else too. the t bolts broke or were stripped and the door flap rubber needed to be replaced
and I lubed the cables for the door cleaned the air vents and serviced the blower fan , it was open so I did It all at once
so in the end it was like 5 -6 things just for a heater core ,, I still have my original core I kept it for the last 12 years sitting on the shelf
I have a guy near me that was gonna recore it for me but never got around to it
