Default 79 power window diagnosis

My driverside window in my 79 will not raise, but went down smoothly. I installed a new switch to see if that was the problem and nothing changed.

It started a few days ago when I had to flick the switch a few times to get the window to raise, once it did, it went up smoothly at normal speed. Since then it went from occasionally needed a few inputs to not going up at all. When I flick the switch to lower the window the voltmeter drops showing its drawing juice, but when I flick the switch up there is no movement in the voltmemer.

what is the next thing to look for? I have a door regulator already that I got from a friend. Should I take the door apart or is there anything under the dash to look for?

When the ones in my 79 started acting crazy. I had to clean the connector at the motor and take apart the console switch and clean the contacts. I heard the repos are junk. There is also a ground connector for both motors in the passenger side pillar or door I can’t remember.
it’s been a while since I repaired them. But both still work fine. May also need to clean relubricate the window slides and regulator.

When it’s the driver’s side it’s most often the wires where they pass through the door jamb. They break after continually flexing from opening and closing the door a few thousand times.

Thanks for the help guys, i havnt been able to get to it until today. I unplugged the connector and gave the the metal a good scrub. Window goes up and down again. made sure the problem areas were all noted.

Now the question is, do i realign the window myself? It leaves about a qtr inch gap at the top. I have zero experience with windows, and I know Corvette of auburn would have it done within the day, especially if everything is already taken apart. So what is the shop hourly rate, and how easy is it to learn. If this doesnt get many replies i’ll post a new thread on it
