on my 1981 vette had carb rebuilt by lars. question on the rear of the carb. towards the fire wall the orffis tube coming out of the back where do i hook this up to i just have it open now
rebuilt by lars? you sure it is not an older carb? is this a retrofit to eliminate the CCC carb setup? aka e4me? if so, what do you have for a distributor to complete the refit?
and it looks like there is no vacuum advance on that distributor. i am fairly sure lars does not do 81 e4me carbs. got pic of the whole carb and top of engine?

That's the fitting for the fresh air inlet for your 1978 carb's hot air choke. Your carb has been converted to electric, so there is no purpose for that fitting. You can cap it off or just leave it - makes no difference either way. It's just a fresh air supply source, and it's static.
I built that carb for you 3 years ago. I hope you're not just now getting around to installing it - that's not going to work out well...
And next time, just send me an e-mail and ask the question.
back to your distributor. that is an 81 distributor that the advance is controlled by the ecm. the ecm will see no throttle position signal from the carb and shut down. pop check engine light and put you in limp mode with no advance. gas mileage and power will suffer greatly. you need an 80 or older style vacuum and centrifugal advance distributor.
that is not an 81 dist, it is 2 years old purchased from summit, it was my mistake not to have one with a vacuum advance ,which only serves a purpose at slow speeds I will be changing that in the near future
ok. pop dist cap and look for this. https://www.jegs.com/i/JEGS+Performa...xoCOUAQAvD_BwE many non-vac distributors sold were just normal distributors with lock-out plates. if so, you need a 15 buck vacuum can, not a new distributor.
