Every time new heads are discussed its automatically assumed this will be some sort of fire breathing monster that automatically needs top end premium components to survive even though the guy never mentioned replacing the cam and instead indicated it was already replaced when it was rebuilt 10k ago.
Theres no middle ground here on recommendations on what is needed for some reason... You either use the crap stock pushrods which are somehow fine, or you need one piece moly pushrods that are built to withstand 600lbs of spring pressure regardless of cam or springs used.

According to Edelbrock, the easystreet heads need .100 longer pushrods and the springs are nothing special, they are speced for stock and lower lift performance cams meaning heavy duty, expensive, high pressure pushrods are just not needed here, only hardened rods designed to work with the guides. https://static.summitracing.com/glob...s/edl-5089.pdf (coincidentally they recommend a $50 set of laminate head gaskets and state stock head bolts are fine as long as they meet the length criteria once the hardened washers which are needed are added.)

Seems to me by what he has mentioned in a couple threads now with all the edelbrock stuff that cosmetics and possibly bragging rights are more of a priority here than actual speed. In truth there are plenty of middle of the road pushrods made by Howards, Elgin or even Procomp that would work fine on this cast, lower compression lower lift cam l48 engine. The op says the engine wiped a cam and was "rebuilt about 10k ago but I see original stock looking dished pistons myself which indicate it may have just been gone through and possibly reringed and new bearings, not rebuilt.
I think it was mentioned by someone else the edelbrock heads wont even work with roller cams and is pretty limited on lift with tappet cams but I could be wrong there. 64cc or even 58cc heads will only help this combo though as far as I can tell, even with otherwise stock components

Yes,Audie, was surprise to see those type pistons on it,but that being said even in 1981 it was still a corvette, top of the line for Chevrolet, and as of now the car has 10k the last 25 years, and was well maintained and this guy kept a ledger about the maintenance and things he did to it,and in 2009 he dose indicate the cam went,so he spent $1400 on parts,so he dose specify new cam, lifters, chain pulley, seals, radiator, and water pump.$1000 in labor and $1400 in parts.and from what I can tell that was less than 6k since then.I don’t mess with engines much, but I’m sure they painted it blue then, and the paint isn’t burnt off,or oil all over the side, but,I’m not in anyway trying to get 400 hp out of this, this is just a weekend driver.that 👌.lol

The odd thing is in 1981 there was only one engine option (L81) with a an even milder cam than previous years. Its the only year that had no premium L82 option for the c3..
With new 64cc heads which have larger valves and smaller chambers along with a better flowing exhaust you should feel a definite seat of the pants improvement.

make sure you use ZDDP in your oil to avoid another wiped out cam lobe failure.

Default Heads

Good Mourning everyone, there has been a discussion about pushrods on these E street Edelbrock heads. Not very familiar with heads other than what I’ve heard and read for the past two months, but an update,I never have until yesterday pull both heads out and visually looked at them, along with looked at the instructions and things that would be needed such as gasket, sealant and pushrods, and does indicate on here that the pushrods needed would be +.100, so,not sure what that is,but not very much,so,some of you tell me,but considering you have up to .60k for adjustments, and type gasket if my are 7.8 pushrods what’s the next length longer.
